THE 2007 ITALIAN FILM FESTIVAL

Why: The Festival offers the latest in contemporary Italian cinema. The 2007 film line-up features 10 full-feature films and 12 shorts, including the North American Premier of the controversial “7 KM From Jerusalem.”

When: June 6th until June 10, 2007.

TORONTO JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL

What: The largest of its kind in North America, Toronto's Jewish Film Festival attracts an audience of over 30,000 people and showcases feature films, documentaries, and shorts on Jewish culture, heritage, and identity.

Why: The festival aims to break through anti-Semitic barriers and stereotypes while educating audiences on the diversity of the Jewish experience across the world.

When: May 5th until May 13, 2007.

FACTORY GIRL

Who: Guy Pearce (as Andy Warhol), Sienna Miller (as Edie Sedgwick), Hayden Christensen, Mena Suvari, and Jimmy Fallon.

What: Edie Sedgwick is taken under the wing of the famous pop artist Andy Warhol, who sees her as his irresistible muse. Warhol invites Sedgwick into the wild world of The Factory, a former downtown hat factory he has transformed into a bohemian paradise.

When: Released last week, this is a must-see (if you haven’t already seen it!).

CINEMA ITALIANO

What: Documentaries on some of Italy’s most highly-acclaimed fashion designers.

Why: All documentaries are in Italian with English subtitles and are free with Museum Admission.

When: Catch Gianni Versace: voglia di belleza on December 1, 2006 at 5 p.m. and Armani e il senso delle arti at 6 p.m.The following week, Roberto Capucci: arte da indossare will run on December 8, 2006 at 5 p.m. and Sorelle Fontana, alta moda Italiana will begin at 6 p.m.
